Where We Cater

Melbourne-Wide, From Our South Kingsville Kitchen

Our production kitchen is in South Kingsville and our vans go everywhere — the inner west, the CBD, the bayside suburbs, the north and the outer west. Any delivery charge is quoted up front, never added later.

South Kingsville · Williamstown · Newport · Yarraville · Altona North · Point Cook · Hoppers Crossing · Tarneit · West Footscray

Melbourne’s Middle Eastern communities concentrate in the north and south east. Lebanese families are long established in Coburg, Fawkner, Broadmeadows and Preston; Turkish communities around Broadmeadows, Dandenong and Sunshine; Persian populations in Point Cook, Tarneit and the eastern suburbs. Events run through mosque function rooms, community association halls, reception venues and homes with large outdoor areas. The calendar is firm: Ramadan and the two Eids drive the heaviest demand, Nowruz in March brings Persian gatherings, and engagement parties, henna nights and weddings fill spring and summer across the western suburbs.

FAQs

Middle Eastern Catering — Your Questions Answered

Is your Middle Eastern catering halal?+

Halal-certified meat is available on request for any booking and we can run an entirely halal menu. We confirm certification details in writing when you book rather than leaving it vague.

What Middle Eastern dishes do you cater?+

Charcoal shawarma, lamb and chicken kofta, shish tawook, mixed grills, hummus, labneh, baba ghanoush, tabbouleh, fattoush, falafel, warak enab, kibbeh and baklava.

Do you do a live charcoal grill at events?+

Yes. A live charcoal grill is one of our most-booked stations for Middle Eastern events — meats cooked in front of guests, which works as both food and entertainment.

Can you cater a full mezze spread?+

Yes, and generously. Mezze is where Middle Eastern catering wins over a mixed room — hummus, labneh, baba ghanoush, muhammara, olives, pickles, breads and salads give everyone something before the mains arrive.

Is the vegetarian offering strong?+

Very. Falafel, warak enab, moussaka-style vegetable bakes, fattoush, tabbouleh, muhammara and the full mezze range mean vegetarian guests are not an afterthought.

Do you cater Lebanese, Afghani and Turkish events?+

Yes. Our Middle Eastern menus cover Lebanese, Syrian, Afghani, Turkish and Persian styles, and we will build the menu around which tradition the event belongs to rather than serving a generic spread.

Can you combine Middle Eastern with Indian?+

Yes, and it is a common pairing for mixed-heritage weddings. The two cuisines sit together well because both do grilled meats, breads and generous shared starters.

How does Middle Eastern food work for large events?+

Well. Grilled meats, rice dishes and mezze all hold through long service windows, and mezze in particular lets guests start eating as soon as they arrive.

Do you provide bread fresh?+

Flatbreads are served fresh and we can arrange live bread service at venues that allow it.

What desserts do you offer?+

Baklava, maamoul, knafeh, Turkish delight and seasonal fruit platters. Arabic coffee or mint tea service is a popular finish.

Can you cater Ramadan iftar and Eid events?+

Yes, and we book out early for both. Tell us the date and expected numbers as far ahead as you can.

Is there a minimum guest count?+

Around 15 for a full menu. Below that we would steer you to a mezze-led drop-off rather than a full spread.

Is all your Middle Eastern catering halal?+

Yes, all meat on our Middle Eastern menus is halal certified. We store, prepare and transport it separately from any non-halal product, and we can run a completely alcohol-free and pork-free event including the kitchen. Supplier certification details are available if your family, mosque or community organisation wants to check them.

Can you set up a shawarma spit at our venue?+

Sometimes, depending on the site. A vertical spit needs floor clearance, dedicated power or gas, and either outdoor placement or working extraction. Many hired halls and indoor function rooms cannot accommodate one. Where it is not possible we cook and carve the same marinated meat from trays at a staffed carving station.

Do you cater iftar during Ramadan?+

Yes, and we schedule the entire delivery around the maghrib time for that date. Dates, water and soup go out first so guests can break the fast immediately, with the main service following a short time later. We also cater suhoor for community events and can handle large mosque and community hall bookings.

What is the difference between your Lebanese and Persian menus?+

Lebanese menus centre on a large mezze spread and charcoal grilled meats; Persian menus centre on rice. A Persian event will have chelo, polo with barberries or herbs, and tahdig as the main event with kabab alongside. A Lebanese event will have hommous, tabouli, kibbeh and a long grill list. Spicing and herb use are different throughout.

Can you cater a Turkish engagement or henna night?+

Yes. Turkish nisan and kina gecesi catering usually runs as a cold mezze and pide spread while guests arrive, then adana and shish from the grill, pilav and mains, then baklava and Turkish coffee or tea service late. We can also time the food around the henna ceremony itself so service pauses rather than clashes.

How do you keep the bread warm for a large mezze table?+

We bring pita and flatbread out in insulated carriers and release it in waves through service rather than putting it all on the table at once. Bread sitting out for forty minutes goes leathery and guests stop eating the dips. For larger events we warm bread in batches on site so each refill arrives soft.

Can you cater an iftar during Ramadan?+

Yes, and the timing is the core of the job. Iftar begins at sunset, which shifts daily, so food must be ready to serve the moment the fast breaks rather than on a loose window. We plan for dates and water first, then the main service, and we build in the gap for maghrib prayer. Suhoor catering is also possible for larger gatherings.

Do you cater Eid celebrations for large family groups?+

Yes. Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha both bring large gatherings across Melbourne, often across multiple sittings in one day. We work to a staged service rather than a single drop so late arrivals get hot food, and we scale sweets and mezze generously because guests move between houses and halls. Book early; both dates saturate quickly.

What is the difference between Lebanese and Turkish catering on a menu?+

The overlap is charcoal-grilled meat and flatbread; the divergence is everything around it. Lebanese menus lead with mezze, dips, tabbouleh and fattoush. Turkish menus lean on pide, lahmacun, Adana, Iskender and yoghurt-based elements. Persian is different again, built around saffron rice and slow stews. We can blend them, but a focused menu usually reads better than a mixed one.

Can you provide a fully vegetarian Middle Eastern menu?+

Yes, and it is one of the stronger vegetarian cuisines to cater. Hummus, baba ghanoush, falafel, muhammara, warak enab, fattoush, mujadara, batata harra, zaatar manakish and grilled halloumi make a full spread without feeling like a side-dish menu. Most of it is vegan too, with only the dairy items needing substitution. Nut content gets labelled clearly.

Do you cater Persian Nowruz events?+

Yes. Nowruz falls at the spring equinox in March and brings specific dishes, particularly sabzi polo ba mahi, kuku sabzi and ash reshteh. We cook to the occasion rather than serving a generic Persian menu. The haft-sin table is usually arranged by the family, and we plan our service around it so the two do not compete for the same space.

How do you keep a mixed grill hot for a hundred guests?+

By grilling in rotation rather than all at once. Skewers that sit in a holding tray steam in their own juices and lose the charred edge entirely. We stage the grill across the service window, send out in waves, and keep rice and mezze as the stable base of the plate so nobody is standing at an empty station while the next batch cooks.

In Detail

Middle Eastern Catering Across Melbourne

We cater Lebanese, Turkish and Persian menus for weddings, engagements, corporate functions and religious gatherings across Melbourne. Charcoal shish taouk and adana, mezze tables, slow-cooked lamb ouzi, Persian rice with tahdig. Most of this work goes out through the west and north — Hoppers Crossing, Tarneit, Coburg, Broadmeadows, Thomastown — plus corporate deliveries into the CBD. Everything comes out of our South Kingsville kitchen with our own staff on site.

Lebanese, Turkish and Persian cooking share a region and almost nothing else on the plate. Lebanese events want the mezze table to arrive early and stay full. Turkish events are built around the grill and the pide. Persian events run on rice — the quality of the tahdig is the thing people remember. We ask which tradition the event belongs to before we write a menu, and we do not blend them into one generic board.

Why Us

What Matters In Middle Eastern Event Catering

Fully halal operation

All meat is halal certified, sourced from suppliers we have used for years. For events that require it we run an alcohol-free service and keep gelatine, pork products and anything with alcohol-based extracts out of the kitchen entirely. We can provide supplier details if your family or mosque wants to verify.

Mezze built to keep arriving

A Lebanese mezze table is not a starter, it is the first hour of the event. We plan for continuous replenishment rather than one drop, keep hommous and baba ghanoush cold to the last minute, and bring bread out warm in waves so it never sits and stiffens on the table.

Persian rice done properly

Chelo and polo are cooked in batches with the steaming stage done on site so the grains stay long and separate. Tahdig is formed in the pot and turned out whole at service, not reheated. Saffron is bloomed fresh. This is the dish Persian guests judge the whole event on.

How It Runs

Spits, Charcoal And Halal Chain Of Custody

Shawarma is the most demanding item on a Middle Eastern menu. A vertical spit needs floor space, a dedicated power circuit or gas supply, clearance from anything flammable, and extraction or an outdoor position because it smokes steadily for hours. The meat has to be stacked and loaded in our kitchen the day before and transported upright on the skewer. Carving runs continuously through service, so it needs a staff member on it for the whole event. Many hired halls cannot support it. Where a spit is not possible we cook the same marinated meat in trays and carve it at the station instead, and tell you the difference honestly.

Halal integrity is an operational chain, not a claim on a page. Our meat arrives certified, is stored on dedicated shelving, is prepped with knives and boards that do not touch non-halal product, and travels in its own carriers. On mixed-cuisine events where another menu includes pork, we physically separate the service lines and brief the floor staff on which utensils go where. During Ramadan the schedule changes too — iftar catering has to land exactly at sunset, which means we build the whole production backwards from the maghrib time for that specific date and stage dates, soup and water before the main food.

Worth Knowing

Volume Problems Specific To Middle Eastern Catering

01

Charcoal without venue clearance

Charcoal grilling is what makes a Lebanese or Turkish mixed grill taste right, and it is also the thing venues refuse most often. Smoke, ventilation, fire alarms and fuel storage all need sign-off. We confirm in writing before the menu is locked, and where charcoal is not possible we adjust the cooking method rather than promise something we cannot deliver.

02

Flatbread warmed all at once

Warm the full bread order up front and it is dry and brittle by the time half the room is served. We warm in batches matched to the service rate and keep each batch wrapped so it steams gently rather than drying out. Bread is the vehicle for the entire mezze spread, so stale bread undermines everything next to it.

03

Mishandling Persian rice

Chelo is not a dish you can stir and hold. Steamed saffron rice turns sticky if it is agitated or held too long in a deep container, and tahdig goes leathery if it sits. We steam, rest, and keep layers shallow, and we cook tahdig separately so it can be served in pieces rather than scraped out of a mass of rice.

04

Halal assumptions left unconfirmed

Many Middle Eastern events require certified halal throughout, including stock, marinades and any alcohol used in cooking. Some clients also need separate equipment and no pork or alcohol anywhere on the premises. We confirm the standard required at the quoting stage, not the week of the event, because it changes sourcing, transport and serving setup.
