Real Events, Real Food
Photos from weddings, corporate functions and celebrations we have actually catered across Melbourne.
What Our Catering Actually Looks Like
Every image here comes from an event we catered — not stock photography, not supplier imagery, not a styled shoot. Buffets mid-service, grazing tables before guests arrive, live tandoor stations, plated courses and the rooms they were served in.
Several were shot at Ultima Function Centre and Fleur Weddings & Events, which are our own venues. The rest are at venues, halls, marquees and homes our clients chose.
If you want to see something closer to what you are planning, ask. We hold far more than is published here.

No. Many clients prefer privacy, and we only photograph where we have permission.
Of course. Clients regularly send us images from here as a reference point for what they want.

Tandoor items and chaat photograph best because of colour and texture. Paneer Tikka, Tandoori Prawns, Haryali Tikki and a Chaat Platter hold their appearance on the line, while a Lamb & Goat Biryani or Lamb Shank works as a centrepiece. Kulfi on a dessert table is the most photographed item we serve.
Yes, we set the buffet to be complete and clean before guests are released, which is when photographers want the shot. Dessert tables are set later in the night for the same reason. Tell us the photographer’s run sheet during planning and we will align our setup times to it.
We can adjust presentation, chafer arrangement, signage and the look of the dessert table to suit your theme and colours. Full floral and decor styling is usually handled by a stylist, and we work alongside them. At our own venues in Keilor East and Fawkner we can coordinate the whole setup more closely.
Live stations draw a crowd, which is how they photograph. A live tandoor station with naan coming off the clay or a chaat station with guests building their own Pani Puri creates movement and queues in a way a static buffet does not. We place them where guests can gather without blocking traffic.
Where we have them. Jain, satvik and vegan sections look much like any other buffet in a photograph, which is part of the point: they are not a lesser version of the menu. What is worth looking at in those images is the labelling and the separation of serving areas, because that is what guests with strict requirements actually rely on.
Ask us and we will send what we have. We hold images from our own three venues, Ultima Function Centre in Keilor East, Fleur Weddings & Events in Fawkner and Amora in Melbourne, plus many Melbourne function centres, temples and community halls we cater at regularly. Venue-specific photos are the most useful if you have already booked, because they show the real constraints.
Yes, and we encourage it. Sharing a catering layout image with your venue coordinator early is the fastest way to find out whether a setup is allowed. Send the image to the venue, ask about clearance, power and open flame, and pass the answer back to us. That single step prevents most late changes to a menu.
What Our Events Look Like Before Anyone Eats
The photographs on this page are from real Melbourne events we have catered. Buffet lines before the doors open. The tandoor working with a queue forming around it. Chaat stations mid-service. Dessert tables at the end of a long reception. We have not styled these as studio shots because that is not what you are buying. You are buying how the food looks at seven o’clock in an actual function room with 300 people walking in.
Look at the details rather than the overall effect. How the line is laid out and where the vegetarian section sits. How dishes are labelled. Whether the chafers look organised or crowded. How much space is left for guests to move. Those things decide whether your buffet feels generous or chaotic, and they are visible in photographs if you know to look for them. If something here matches the event you are planning, tell us and we will build from it.

Look at the buffet layout
Notice the spacing between chafers and how the line runs. A buffet that photographs as calm usually serves calm too. Crowding dishes together looks abundant in a photo but creates bottlenecks when 200 guests hit the line at once.
Watch the live stations
The tandoor, chaat and dessert station shots show what those additions do to a room. Guests gather, queue, watch and talk. A static buffet photo cannot show that. If your event needs energy rather than just food, these images are the ones to study.
Check the scale of the setup
The same menu looks different at 60 guests in a Yarraville backyard and 600 at Ultima Function Centre. These photos span both. Find the headcount closest to yours so you are looking at a setup that matches the room you have.
The Dishes That Photograph Best, And Why
If you are planning for photographers as well as guests, these are the items that consistently look as good as they taste on the line.
Colour On The Line
Tandoori Prawns, Paneer Tikka, Haryali Tikki, Chaat Platter, Green Salad
Live Station Shots
Garlic Naan, Tangri Kebab, Pani Puri, Bhel Puri, Chicken Kasturi Boti
Centrepiece Dishes
Lamb & Goat Biryani, Lamb Shank, Punjabi Butter Chicken, Dal Makhani, Kadahi Paneer
Dessert Table
Matka Kulfi, Faluda Kulfi, Sizzling Chocolate Brownie, Gulab Jamun, Ice Cream Platter
A starting point, not a fixed list. Swap any dish at no extra charge — the menu is built around your guest list, your budget and the dietary needs in the room.
Why The Setup Is Planned For Photos Too
Photographers shoot the buffet in a narrow window, usually right before guests are released and again during service. We build our setup time around that. The line is complete, labelled and clean before the first guest walks in, which means the photographer gets the shot and your guests get a buffet that is not still being assembled. Dessert tables get their own window later in the night, after the dance floor opens, because that is when people actually photograph them.
Lighting and placement matter more than people expect. We ask venues where the buffet will sit and what the light is like there, because a line against a dark wall photographs badly no matter how good the food is. At Ultima Function Centre and Fleur Weddings & Events we already know the best positions in each room. At external venues we work it out during the site visit. Live stations get placed where guests can gather without blocking a thoroughfare, which also happens to be where they photograph best.
What To Look For In These Event Photos
Photos tell you more than a menu list if you know what to look at, so here is what each kind of image actually shows.
| What you are looking at | What it tells you | Why it matters for your event |
|---|---|---|
| Buffet line layout | How many service points and how traffic flows | Predicts queue length for your guest count |
| Live station setup | Equipment, chef positioning and clearance needed | Tells you if your venue can support one |
| Chafing and holding equipment | How food is kept at temperature across a long service | Food quality at the end of service, not just the start |
| Grazing and dessert tables | Styling, height and the space a display consumes | How much floor area the display takes from guests |
| Plated presentation | Portion shape and consistency across covers | What formal sit-down service will look like |
| Labelling and signage | How dietary and cuisine markers are presented | Whether guests with restrictions can serve themselves confidently |
How To Read Catering Photos Without Being Misled
Judging the menu from styling
A beautifully styled table tells you about props and florals, not about how the food tasted at nine at night. Look past the arrangement to the equipment: proper holding gear, enough service points, sensible labelling. Those details predict your guest experience far better than the linen does. Styling is the easiest part of catering to photograph and the least important.ps
Assuming one photo equals one event
Galleries mix events, venues and years, so a single image is not a template for your function. Look for the format repeating across several photos instead, because that shows how we actually set up rather than a one-off. If you see something you want, say which image, and we will tell you plainly what it requires.
Ignoring the room in the frame
People focus on the food and miss the space around it. Note how far the buffet sits from seating, where staff are standing and how much clearance the station has. That context is what determines whether the same setup fits your venue. A layout that works in an 800-guest hall will not drop into a small community room.
Expecting a photo to show quantities
Photographs are taken at the start of service when everything is full, so they show presentation, not volume. Quantity is worked out from your guest count, the service window and the dietary split, not from how a tray looked in a picture. Ask us about quantities separately; it is a planning conversation, not a visual one.
The venues in these photos trace our working area across Melbourne. You will see our own spaces in Keilor East, Fawkner and Melbourne, alongside function centres, community halls and temples in Dandenong, Springvale, Sunshine, Craigieburn and Footscray. Outdoor and home events pictured are largely from Point Cook, Werribee, Tarneit, Truganina and Hoppers Crossing, where there is room for marquees. Closer to our South Kingsville kitchen you will see events in Williamstown, Yarraville, Newport, Altona North and West Footscray. If you recognise your venue, mention it and we will send more.
